As a semi-professional adventure racer on team NV Racing, I swear by good quality gear. If it makes me faster, lighter, and/or more reliable than my competition then it''s on my gear list. For lighting, Lupine is my first choice. I personally own a Tesla X lightset, and it blows away the competition. Lighter, brighter, longer lasting, and better made than anything else on the market today. Perfect from short training sessions up to 24-hour races, I can modify the beam power on the fly from max power when finding flagged checkpoints or on very technical terrain to energy-saving low beam when I''m on established trails (or just don''t want to blind my teammates!) Invest in the best, and you will never regret it.
As a 23 year veteran wildland firefighter I can tell you that ''''Night Ops'''' can be particularly dangerous. With the headband or helmet-mounted Tesla, many safety issues are mitigated due to the powerful bright and wide beam. Handline construction, firing operations, and even base camp are no longer compromized as with conventional headlamps...and you don''''t have to fumble in the dark to change batteries!! The rechargable battery pack will last the shift, and it fits neatly in your line gear. Do yourself a favor, be safe and buy a Tesla.

I borrowed a friend''s Tesla X for a 24-hour Rogaine race this past weekend. I was stunned by the output of this tiny light. I spotted checkpoints from long distances away (my teammates thought I was just a good navigator - it was all the light). On trails, my teammates didn''t even need to use their lights. Everything about the Tesla has a high quality feel to it: from the ease and simplicity of the set up, the secure and easy battery connections and the stable and comfortable headband, even after using it for over 12 hours in dense forest and brush. This light will be my next purchase I don''t want to go back out for a nighttime hike or bike without one!
