Newly Upgraded to 1100 lumens...
Probably the most flexible light we have ever developed, with incredible possibilities. Now with 1100 lumens, Wilma is way brighter than standard competitors H.I.D. systems at 500 lumens, brighter than our well-known high-end H.I.D. light Edison. But there are many advantages to this LED system over standard H.I.D. systems.
LED’s are more durable, upgradeable as technology improves, dimmable to match specific needs, have longer life; and are able to flash, which is impossible with H.I.D. bike lights.
So why is the Wilma much better than other LED lights?
We don’t use a combination of 4 standard single collimated lenses . These are available in various sizes, beam patterns and angles but as usual, did not satisfy our demands. Our lens was customized and developed by Lupine; therefore it works alot more efficiently than a standard optic. Our own lens made it possible to tune the beam pattern and provide an excellent light for night rides. By engineering a special lens array we were able to build a nice and tiny light with a 4 super-bright Cree XP-G LED/ 4-lens system.
On high beam the Wilma emits an amazingly bright light which easily illuminates demanding technical trails. At Lupine, we looked at every possible way of increasing light output. By using the best LED’s available, our own lens system, coated antireflection glass which gives an extra percentage in performance, and a massive amount of advanced electronics to maximize efficiency at all dimming levels, Lupine not only leads, but defines the class of Personal Extreme Sports and Rescue lighting systems.
A most astonishing characteristic of LEDs is the output on the lower beam settings. H.I.D. lights are only dimmable to a certain extend before they cut out. Halogen lights can be dimmed very easily but the light output and color is generally poor.

Wilma is worth every penny!
Comments :
Having owned most of the big brands (starting with halogens in the mid-90''s, progressing to HID''s, etc), I was tired of mediocre build quality, manufacturers changing connectors with each new model (great, buy a whole new system), and lights that failed under less-than-stressful conditions.
I wanted this light purchase to be my last. A die-hard commuter friend who owns a Betty and a Wilma sings the praises of Lupines and the service he receives from Bill at Gretna Bikes, but I found the cost a tough barrier to get past. $1,400 for pair of bike lights?
After spending a lot of time on the phone with Bill, I purchased two Wilma lampheads (one for the bar, one for the helmet), a Charger One, and two batteries (7.5aH and 1.8 aH). When I opened up the box, my concerns about cost were answered with stellar build quality that makes most other lights look like toys.
The brightness of the Wilma's is stunning. They are easily programmed to provide a limitless variety of lighting levels; I've found that I seldom need the full 1,100 lumens, and backing off the output drastically increases burn times.
Bottom line, this is a world-class product that's worth every penny. Cost is the biggest gripe you hear about Lupine - but you'll never hear a Lupine owner complain about that. I commute in sub-freezing weather and blinding rain, and love riding gnarly singletrack at night. I need bright, versatile lights that absolutely, positively work - and Lupine delivers. Customer service is also top-notch; Bill knows the product inside and out, and treats customers like a great local shop should, even though I live hundreds of miles away.
$1,400 turned out to be a bargain after all.

Great race at Old Pueblo

Thanks for all your help before my race! I had the race of my life and took 3rd in the Solo Men category out of nearly 100 starters. The Wilmas rocked it through 12.5 hours of darkness!

Hardcore light! Worth every penny.
Comments :
I''ve been riding with this light for 6 months now and I love it! The Wilma has more power, range, customization, than any other light I''ve used (marwi, niterider). I use the 3 settings mode and run at 55% most of the time, 10% for resting (so you won''t blind everyone- you will). The full on mode is fantastic to click on technical or fast descents. This light will make you ride faster in the dark. Your buddies will hate you. It will drown out their lights at 55%. Wait until you get one in your hands, the quality is unbelievable compared to other lights I've used or seen. You can''t beat it! The guys at Lupine are great to talk to as well, you just don''t get customer service like that. Thanks, I''m glad I made the leap over to Lupine! I''ll never look anywhere else.

The Gold Standard in race lighting
Comments :
The first time I saw a Lupine light was on a night mountain bike ride in the Appalachian mountains. 12 hours into a training event, my 4-person adventure racing team was just starting down a fire road as the sun was setting. With a new moon and the sun behind a mountain, it started getting dark fast and we all turned on our bike lights. My teammate, sporting a 6-year old Lupine Edison, had a piece of the sun so bright that it washed out all of our beam patterns on the road. Looking down at his bike frame, I expected to see a massive water bottle type battery but was surprised to see a small bag dangling from his top tube and wired up the light. As we turned a corner, I could distinctly see into the forest several hundred yards away. I simply turned off my less powerful light, and rode next to him for the next several hours of our ride. His light never faltered, and it was more than enough light for both of us. The next day I contacted Gretna Bikes and ordered my Wilma 7. Even brighter than the Edison, the Wilma is completely programmable by 5% increments for how bright you need it vs. how long the battery will run. It mounts to handle bars in seconds, and has never budged on the mount in the toughest terrain. On my mountain bike training rides in Northern Virginia I'm always getting stopped by other riders asking about my Lupine, usually after I apologize for blinding them! I also use it on my road bike, the brightness is similar to a car headlight. I can see the potholes in advance and I'm easily seen by cars driving by, a huge safety plus for commuting. And like all Lupines I can swap batteries between my Tesla and Wilma with ease and move the light between my handlebars and helmet in seconds. For the reliability, battery run time, interoperability, and performance you just can't beat the Lupine Wilma 7.
